Bidding
Please provide a drawing or layout of your cabinets to Austin's Romancing The Stone along with the name of the type of material that you would like to have priced. Please also provide an idea of the style of sink as well as the edge detail. An accurate bid will then be promptly returned.
Choosing Material
Austin's Romancing The Stone is a great place to begin your search for the perfect material for your project. We carry a wide variety of samples of engineered and natural stone. Romancing The Stone also has a selection of natural stone slabs and remnant pieces for you to view. If we don't have the perfect stone for your project we work with stone yards such as Intrepid, Cosmos, OTM, Elemar, and Pental. They have hundreds of varieties of stone to choose from.
Templating
After the acceptance of the bid, Austin's Romancing The Stone will work with you to schedule the template and installation dates. Our professional templator will arrive at your house and accurately and carefully measure your cabinets or existing countertops and make a physical template. It is not necessary to remove your countertops for measurement, however, it is that much more accurate if the old counters are removed exposing the cabinets. Please also provide any sinks that are needed for the job, as they will accompany the templates back to the shop for accurate measurement and placement during fabrication.
Fabrication
The pieces will then be rough-cut using a large diamond bladed saw and then carefully placed on to our state-of-the-art CNC machine that cuts the exact shape of the template of your kitchen, applies the edge detail and routs out the sink. All pieces are then hand polished and completed to perfection, ready for installation in your home or business.
Installation
On the pre-specified date, Austin's Romancing The Stone will arrive for the installation of your project. The pieces will be placed on the cabinets, the sinks will be mounted and the countertops will be sealed upon completion. Please provide any sink hardware such as the faucet, soap dispenser, air switch, ect. so that the holes can be drilled. Generally, the installation is completed in a matter of hours.
Products
Granite
The most durable material for kitchen countertops, granite offers resiliency unparalleled by other countertop surfaces. Granite is an igneous rock that began as molten rock deep beneath the earth's surface. Under extreme pressure and temperature the granite forms into eye catching displays of color and grain variations. These variations are caused by different mineral compositions that make up the granite. Natural variations in the stone such as veins and inclusions make each piece unique to the next insuring that the slabs put in your kitchen are one of a kind.
Marble
Marble actually starts as limestone that was deposited in an ocean environment millions of years ago. Under extreme pressure and temperature the seashells and calcium deposits recrystallize and form into marble. Marble is a soft material and is generally used in low traffic areas. Marble ads a warm feel to any project. Marble varies in color with the most common type being from Carrera, Italy.
Limestone
Limestone is a sedimentary rock deposited by pre-existing ocean environments millions of years ago. It is made up of sea animal detritus, shells, coral and calcium carbonate deposits that over time, has compacted into beds of limestone. Limestone is a soft material that comes in a variety of grey tones and is generally used in lower traffic areas.
Travertine
Travertine forms around bubbling hot springs that occur above or beneath the surface of the earth. The occurrence of these formations above the earth's surface is actually called tuffa. Under temperature and pressure these deposits slightly recrystallize and compact into beds of travertine. Earth tone dominated, for a truly old world look to your project.
Onyx
Onyx, prized for its exotic colors, and rarity, forms in cold water, underground environments that are not unlike caves. Drip by drip, onyx forms from cascading underground water systems that have found voids in the earth's crust. The colors form by the minerals that the water has been in contact with during its journey. Its concoidal texture and colors, ad a truly unique counter surface to any project.
Engineered Stone
Engineered stone is comprised of 93% quarts material and 7% resins that hold all the aggregate together. Quartz surfacing is extremely durable and is perfect for the active family who needs a little less maintenance worries. Engineered stone has a large color palate to choose from and is available from companies such as CaesarStone, Pental, Radianz, and Silestone to name a few.

Sinks
Sinks come in a variety of styles and dimensions and are placed above or below your new countertops. We can use your existing sink or find you a sink that matches your taste of décor. Sinks that are over mounted rest on top of the stone. Sinks that are under mounted are placed below the countertop. There are three different ways to under mount your sink: the stone hangs over the sink, the stone sits flush with the sides of the sink or the stone sits back from the edge of the sink.
Care
Your stone is sealed and ready for use after the countertops have been installed. Care and maintenance is different for natural and engineered stone.
All of our products comes with a lifetime workmanship guarantee.
